We All Fit In!

 

 

 

To kick of the year with fostering a feeling of unity, collaboration, and community the second grade team designed a project where students will work together to create a unique class puzzle.

Why:

  • Introduce students to the process of critique and revision.

  • Establish a classroom community where beautiful work is valued.

Essential Question:  

  • How can we work together to create beautiful work?

Stages:

  • Brainstorm adjectives to describe character traits of people.  

  • Students investigate a word that applies to them.

  • Create a puzzle piece artfully displaying the word.

  • Learn and participate in the critique process to create the final puzzle piece.

  • Students provide their reasoning for choosing their word in a written statement.

  • Revisit the critique process in order to revise their written statements.

  • Work will be celebrated with families at Open House.

Length:

  • About three weeks.
